Meeting Info:
Topic: An Agile SDLC
Date: Tuesday, November 13 2007 -- 7pm to 9pm
Where: Indian Trails Library, 355 Schoenbeck Rd, Wheeling IL (map)
Agenda:
We're taking a break from our story development project this month. Dan Wellisch, one of the Northshore Agile Group founders, will discuss how he and the rest of his development team are adding sensible Agile practices into a traditional SDLC structure. Dan will discuss approaches he and his team are taking at a large client downtown.
The client loves what we are doing!
If you are part of an organization that may utilize a traditional SDLC or waterfall approach, then this meeting will be very informative for you.

Meeting Notes
Dan talked about his experiences with a heavy-process SDLC team that he's working with; discussion quickly turned to the Agile practices in play, and others that could be put in play to help the customer.
What's working well:
- Weekly demos of developed functionality
- Interest in continuous integration
- Good architect
What's not working well:
- Weekly demos are on dev workstations
- Siloed development; individuals do not collaborate on product
- Delayed integration
Suggestions for improvement:
- Bring entire team to weekly demos; leverage the demos as a way to validate ALL aspects of the project (e.g. BAs, tests, data)
- Leverage the weekly demos as a chance to show what is "shippable" vs. "not sashimi yet"

Other Notes/Comments
We are taking a break during December and will start up again in January 2008.
Some possible topics that were discussed for future meetings were.:
- the StoryRunner tool
- ingredients for workable XP: personality traits
- Are there tools that can't be used for Agile development??
